Chaoping Xie
Chaoping Xie is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics (AAEC) at Virginia Tech, where he already has earned a master's degree from the Statistics Department. His research focuses on international trade. In 2013, he finished a paper with Dr. Tao, FuZhou University, China, on the acquisition of Virginia’s Smithfield Foods, a pork producer and procesor, by Shuanghui International (International Food and Agribusiness Management Review, in press). In 2014 he was funded by an AAEC research project “Expanding U.S. Market Access in China’s Evolving Agricultural and Trade Policy Environment” supported by the Agricultural Food Research Initiative (AFRI), USDA-NIFA. During 2015 he will be working on a second AFRI project “Further Analysis of the Impacts of SPS Measures on U.S. Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Trade,” a joint project of professors Everett Peterson, Jason Grant (AAEC) and David Orden (ISCE-GII).
